If you’re dreaming to get engaged while on a dreamy vacation, Amanda’s story might just inspire your own Maui proposal.
Amanda reached out to me with a creative idea already in motion: a Cracker Jack box with a hidden ring pop and handwritten letter buried on the beach for her partner to find. It was a running joke between them—something lighthearted and sentimental—and Amanda wanted to turn that inside joke into the most meaningful question of her life.
We planned everything around sunset in Kapalua, one of our favorite spots for proposals in Maui. It’s got that perfect mix of soft golden light, dramatic cliffs, and just enough seclusion to make the moment feel intimate.
We managed the planning & all the logistics behind the scenes and Gabi, our talented photographer, was there early, pretending to be a tourist, until it was time to capture the proposal.
📍 Why Maui for Your Proposal?
Maui proposals are ideal because they combine beautiful landscapes, a peaceful atmosphere, and the perfect excuse to celebrate during your vacation. Amanda and her partner were staying in Kihei, and the drive to Kapalua was about an hour, but the photos (and the memory) made it totally worth it.

Amanda even mailed the Cracker Jack box ahead of time so we could plant it before the session—one of those small gestures that makes a proposal deeply personal. Despite a few hiccups (like a ring shipping delay), the day still unfolded beautifully. Sometimes things go off script, and honestly… that’s where the magic happens.
