The Plan
Jake had been carefully planning this day for months. With the help of Anna’s sister Haley, we mapped out a surprise that would feel intimate, personal, and unforgettable. The setting was perfect: a quiet corner of their private neighborhood beach in Napili, just steps away from where they were staying. The plan was simple: Get ready for Anna’s birthday dinner, take a short walk by the ocean, and let the moment unfold naturally.
Jake knew he wanted to keep the surprise classic and effortless, so we chose the “ninja style” approach: me hiding in the background, pretending to be another beachgoer, camera in hand and ready to capture the second he dropped to one knee.
Their Story
Jake and Anna’s relationship began back in their college years at Oregon State University. Over the years, their bond strengthened through the simplest joys; like evenings with their puppy, Frank, or dreaming about trips they hoped to take one day. It was Anna’s birthday trip, and Jake wanted to turn her birthday wish into a forever memory.
The Surprise Proposal at Napili
Jake and Anna walked down the path toward the grassy area overlooking the water. Anna thought they were simply stopping for a photo before dinner. But as soon as they reached the spot, Jake turned toward her, pulled out the ring, and asked the question he’d been carrying in his heart.
She said yes. Between laughter and tears, Anna slipped on the ring, embraced Jake, and kissed him as the waves rolled behind them.
