When Carlos reached out to us to help him plan his Maui proposal during his very first trip to Hawai‘i, he wanted it to feel simple, heartfelt, and connected to the water—a reflection of their very first date, which also took place on a beach.

But there was another layer to his vision. His girlfriend is expecting, which made this day not only a proposal but also a subtle maternity celebration. That dual meaning made the session even more special to document.
Our team was hiding behind some rocks, until he was ready to drop to one knee and ask her the big question. She said yes!
Her reaction was everything—surprise, laughter, happy tears. In one breath she said yes, and in the next they were holding each other close with the waves crashing just behind them. That mix of joy and relief, of nervous planning turned into reality, is what makes proposals like these so special.
More Than Just Photos
To help bring his idea to life, Carlos added something we’re seeing more couples embrace: video. Alongside me, Kiana—our content creator—joined to capture behind-the-scenes clips of the session. While I focused on proposal photography, she quietly filmed the in-between moments: their walk along the sand, him dropping to one knee, and the emotional embrace that followed.
These short, casual videos gave Carlos something he could send to family back home—an easy way to let loved ones feel like they were part of the moment even if they couldn’t be there in person.
